Also known as ubiquinone, Co-Enzyme Q10 (often abbreviated to CoQ10) was first discovered in man byLamberts® consultant Dr Len Mervyn. CoQ10 is a vitamin-like substance found within the mitochondriaof every cell in the human body.

It is the mitochondria that are responsible for extracting approximately50% of the total energy from the food we eat. It is therefore not surprising to find the highestconcentrations of CoQ10 in those organs, which have the highest energy requirements such as the heartmuscle and liver, and in those tissues thatregenerate quickly such as the gums.A lack of CoQ10 has been associated withperiodental (gum) disease.
